Overview

The Quality Development team at InterSystems is a dedicated group of talented Software Engineers that is essential to our innovation process. This is a team of extremely bright people that get excited about breaking things and will purposely build tools that will be destructive to our products. Then provide analysis to determine the original error and best method to rectify and improve, while working closely with the Product Development team. A successful Quality Development Engineer requires nothing less than a strong technical aptitude, creativity and resourcefulness.

 

Responsibilities

  • Measure and report performance of high availability features of Caché. Design tests to account for factors like latency, throughput, compression, encryption, and for sparse and dense data.
  • Create baselines of Caché IO rates, varying read write modes, and describe repeatable steps to measure differences against the baselines.
  • Measure and report on memory footprint, class compilation time, routine compilation time, and job create and stop time.
  • Work with other InterSystems groups to take advantage of their tools and experience.  Be an expert in tools and methods for testing, measuring, and reporting performance, using InterSystems and open source products and tools.  If merited, assess and propose purchase of profiling tools.
  • Maintain tests for load, stress, and endurance.  Use and improve instrumented source code and debug builds that simulate timing and failure conditions.

Qualifications

  • Object-Oriented programming (Java, DotNet, C#, C/C++, JavaScript)
  • UNIX systems administrator
  • Windows systems administrator
  • Network interfaces
  • Network tools (for example, Wireshark)
  • Experience with one or more of the following scripting languages: Perl, Python, Ruby
  • Experience with Windows batch and PowerShell scripts
  • Software performance and scalability measurement
  • Test tools and methodologies for data thresholds
  • System tuning

Education and Training

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent
