Overview

Data Migration Functional Lead is responsible for managing the DM work stream for a specific client/project on InterSystems behalf. DM Lead will be based onsite and will work closely with the client’s DM team and the ISC Project Manager. DM Lead will act as an important interface between the core DM Technical team and the client

 

Responsibilities

  • Understands TrakCare functionality and Foundation build agreed with the client.
  • Acts as a key ISC contact if technical assistance is required for uploading the configuration tables as part of TrakCare build and configuration
  • Understands the utility “DUMP” –used for loading Code tables (TrakCare build configuration)
  • Understands the ISC Data Migration solution
  • Understands customer requirement for Data Migration and identifies any potential gaps.
  • Understands the ISC Data Migration Process/Methodology and ensures that client understands and agrees to it.
  • Creates and agrees DM plan with the client and ISC Project Manager (ISC PM), covering key activities defined in ISC DM process.
  • Ensures the ISC PM’s Project plan includes the tasks for the key stages defined in the DM plan.
  • Ensures the lessons learnt from previous implementations are shared with the client.
  • Monitors the progress of the DM work-stream  against the DM plan and reports it periodically to Project Manager and the core DM Technical team.
  • Trains the client on DM Tools like DM Validation utility and DM output reports.
  • Works as a close contact for the client on day to day activities related to DM.
  • Reviews the DM results with the client and ensures appropriate action is undertaken to improve the  quality of the loads.
  • Defines the changes required to be undertaken in the upload scripts by Technical DM team.
  • Periodically assesses the quality of the loads and escalates risks/issues if any.
  • Has the ability to run basic SQL queries and modify/reuse medium to complex SQL scripts provided by the DM Technical team.
  • Maintains DM Issue log and reviews it periodically with stakeholders for resolution.
  • Shares the lessons learnt from his/her site/project with other DM Analysts.

Skills required (or to be developed in the role):

  • Over-arching knowledge of TrakCare front-end.
  • Use of System Management Portal to view TrakCare’s schemas.
  • Cache SQL (You need to be able to write Cache SQL to query the TrakCare Database).
  • TSQL (You will need to be able to set-up and maintain ODBC connections to text-files (the raw extracts) and then query these via SQL).
  • Microsoft Excel (An invaluable tool to investigate and quantify issues, also all the current tool set used for all DM item tracking is in Excel).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical users.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Willingness to challenge information presented to you by all parties.
  • Able to maintain evidence based documentation and ensure that  the customer maintains and delivers their documentation.
  • Communicate effectively the progress of Data Migration to the project ensuring the same message is communicated on the customers side by the customer.
