Information Architect - User Experience

Overview

InterSystems is developing solutions for users in Healthcare organizations around the world. The award winning solutions are used by thousands of users. As we move into the world where more and more end users expect to be able to use their solutions with minimal training we are focused on making our user interface more intuitive and consistent across all of our products. To that end we are seeking a senior person to build a small team of User Experience Designers. This role will cross over the product teams and provide UI direction for all InterSystems products.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the current solutions and end user environments.
  • Work collaboratively to translate business requirements, user goals and creative strategy into engaging experiences.
  • Lead discovery and review meetings.
  • Observe, conduct and analyze qualitative and quantitative user research, such as focus groups, interviews and surveys.
  • Perform heuristic evaluation and task analysis.
  • Create and refine content inventories, user scenarios, personas, site maps, wireframes and other specifications.
  • Develop interactive prototypes.
  • Prepare and conduct usability tests.
  • Present findings and recommendations from user research and usability tests.
  • Work effectively with product managers and developers to actualize the user designs.

Qualifications

Required

  • Driven with a can-do attitude.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard software for diagramming and prototyping.
  • Ability to think creatively and analytically.
  • Uncompromising attention to detail.
  • Experience with Mobile UX
  • Management or team lead experience.
  • Ability to articulate and present ideas based on sound user experience and interaction design principles.
  • Comfortable presenting concepts and deliverables to clients.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with on time delivery.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team oriented, self-motivated

Preferred

  • Understanding of W3C and 508 accessibility guidelines.
  • Experience working on healthcare projects.
  • Ability to hand-code interactive prototypes using HTML, CSS, PHP, AJAX, or any other fashionable acronyms.
  • Experience working with JavaScript libraries, such as Angular/Material JS..

Education and Training

  • 3+ years’ experience as an information architect (IA), user experience designer (UXD) or interaction designer (IxD) preferably in an interactive agency environment.
  • Degree in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Interaction Design, Information Architecture, Digital Media, Communication Design or related field.
  • Demonstrable past experience developing site maps and other information architecture deliverables.
