• Sales Engineer-Healthcare IT

  • Overview

    Based in our Vilvoorde office, the Sales Engineer will provide guidance in the use of InterSystems database platform, IRIS, and InterSystems HIE, HealthShare, as they best suit the requirements of the customer and its market. Product and business strategies are coordinated with the InterSystems Sales Manager to apply InterSystems technology to the customer use case.  The role is very wide-ranging and challenging, requiring a mixture of design skills, hands-on coding, presentation skills, technical architecture, sales awareness, business acumen, evangelism, mentoring and training. This role requires regular travel across Belgium and the Netherlands.



    • Coordinating with InterSystems' Benelux Sales team and all other departments to ensure a close, long-term relationship with our healthcare clients and application partners.
    • Working closely with Systems Integrators and Project Managers, especially during early stages of adoption and particularly technically challenging projects to ensure successful implementations.
    • Recommending technical architecture, database schema, design patterns, migration, upgrade strategies, and operational best practices.
    • Designing, building and presenting Proofs of Concept (PoCs) for Heathshare and IRIS to prospects and partners.
    • Delivering standard and customized on-site training of ISC technology when needed.
    • Benchmarking exercises to determine optimal deployment configurations.
    • Supporting our clients during beta test programs or pre-launch activities.
    • Investigating and demonstrating the use of HealthShare with other 3rd party technologies as needed.
    • Supporting marketing activities at trade shows, seminars, symposiums and industry events
    • Producing collateral such as white papers, product demonstrations or case studies
    • Keeping up-to-date with InterSystems products and IT industry developments, especially competitive products, and undertake any relevant self-development or training


    • Industry expertise in Healthcare to establish yourself as a trusted advisor to development and delivery managers and senior architects
    • Broad knowledge of IT Industry issues & trends within healthcare & technical knowledge in HealthCare Integration such as IHE, HL7 and DICOM.
    • At least 5 years programming with demonstrable current hands-on expertise in object-oriented languages such as C#, C++ or Java / J2ee
    • Outstanding interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
    • Proven business analysis and problem-solving skills
    • Demonstrable solution delivery experience from the standpoint of technical or architectural ownership.
    • Strong, practical knowledge of deployment of an integration platform such as InterSystems Ensemble or HealthShare HealthConnect or similar
    • Experience using databases such as Caché, Oracle, SQLServer, Sybase, Informix or DB2/UDB, including designing logical and physical database schema, good SQL and JDBC/ODBC expertise, installation and configuration skills, and performance tuning.
    • Experience contributing to RFPs
    • Practical exposure to Windows, Unix/Linux, MAC OS X
    • Very good command of Flemish/Dutch, English, and French language

    Education and Training

    • BS in Computer Science or equivalent technical degree
